Now and then, you may be faced with the need to collect applications online. For those of you who haven’t had the chance to put up an online form before, this must seem like an intimidating task. But, actually, it’s not. With web form builders like EmailMeForm, you can create smart and simple application forms that will enable you to collect up to a hundred applications monthly for free.
Whether you need to recruit employees for a newly opened position at your company, collect tenant applications for leases, enroll students, get travellers to apply for tours and vacation packages, onboard volunteers to help your nonprofit organization with projects and activities, take in applicants for competitions, courses, trainings, camps and different sports activities — you can do so effortlessly with our application form creator.
There are countless uses for this type of form. Thus, it would be quite impossible for us to go into the details of building each and every single instance. Instead, we will focus on the most common application form format and you can apply the same technique in building a specific application form that you need. The most common type is, you’re guessing… Job Application Form.

What questions/fields to include?
Take a look at our sample Employment Application Form:
Let’s quickly go through the fields we used here to help you choose the best for your own form.
If you have more than one open position at your company, the first thing you need to know is which of those is the candidate applying for. For this, we suggest either using the Multiple Choice Field (like in our example) or a Single Line text field where they can type in the position they are applying to.
To find out the date when your potential future employees can start working with you, just choose a Date Time field from the dashboard on the left and drag it to the editor on the right.
Then you can add Website and File Upload fields to enable applicants to attach portfolio, photos, references and resumes. To collect necessary contact information just add Simple fields like Name, Address, Email, and Phone.
Put a little makeup on your form
For better form completion rates, we suggest that you add a theme to make your form more attractive. Working with Theme Editor will allow you to stylize the looks of your form — add background image, company logo, custom font, buttons, margins, colors, and more. An even quicker option is to choose a premade, customizable theme from our Theme Gallery. If, however, you need something really special and you know how to create a CSS file, you can use the Advanced option to add CSS code to your form.
Last but not least, if you really don’t feel like doing this yourself or you need a professionally-looking and highly customized form with custom styles and functions — our CustomWorks provides complete form building service according to your specifications. Set up a deadline
If you need to limit the number of applications you can take, or have a deadline after which you wish to close your form for applicants — it’s easy to set these limits up in EmailMeForm’s form maker. In addition to this, there are options to limit entries per IP address or per computer, as well as to set up daily limits.
Be polite, thank your applicants
To thank your applicants for their interest in working at your company and to possibly provide more information about the application, reviewing and interviewing timeline — create a custom Thank You page.
It would be great if you could also set up an Autoresponder message to send them a copy of their filled-in form and to confirm that their application has safely reached your inbox and is being reviewed.
That’s all you need to know about building powerful and beautiful application forms. Finally, you can check more of our free templates » here.
