Each child to be baptized must have at least one godparent. The godparent must be at least 16 years of age and have fulfilled all three sacraments of initiation - Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATES FROM THE PARISH OF RECORD, WITH NOTATIONS, FOR GODPARENTS MUST BE SENT TO ST. PATRICK PRIOR TO BAPTISM.
Also, it is expected that the godparent be an active Catholic in good standing.
A second godparent, who meets the same qualifications as the first, is desirable. If there is a second godparent, each gender must be represented. At least one godparent must be present at the time of Baptism.
It is entirely allowable for each child to have a Christian witness as well. A Christian witness is an adult who is baptized in a Christian tradition other than Catholic and is practicing in that Christian tradition.
The Christian witness, however, is not considered a second godparent but can be listed as a Christian witness in our parish's official sacrament record and on a baptismal certificate.

It is necessary for parents to attend a Baptism preparation workshop prior to the scheduled Baptism. Preparation workshops are offered bi-monthly, typically on Thursday evenings, unless otherwise noted, 6:30pm-8:30pm. Both parents are highly encouraged to attend and are welcome to bring children with them, as appropriate.

Baptisms will take place at the Baptism Font. Each Mass is limited to 5 Baptisms. We work on a first come first serve basis.
St. Patrick automatically reserves one row for each family on the day of your child's baptism. Additional seating requests can be made to the Baptism Ministry Team.
