Volunteer/Internship Application Form
Thank you for choosing to volunteer with La Esperanza Granada. The work of our volunteers is important to the children you will work with as well as to us as an organization. We will do the best we can to make your experience here enjoyable and rewarding. We would like give you a fair picture of our expectations for working as a volunteer or intern with La Esperanza Granada.
Our Code of Conduct
Respect:
To be respectful of Nicaraguan culture, and those of other volunteers. Treat all individuals with a sense of dignity, respect, and worth. Make a personal commitment to be nonjudgmental about cultural differences, and try to maintain an open mind, and a positive attitude.
Responsibility:
Be dependable, recognizing the commitment and responsibility to your volunteer assignment.
Working Hours:
Volunteers in our learning centers work either morning or afternoon shifts (both 4-5 hours). Although evenings are free, please reserve night-life for the weekend. It is particularly important not to turn up suffering the after effects of a big night. Working with the children is demanding so requires a high level of energy and alertness.
Dress:
In the learning centers, a La Esperanza Granada t-shirt with long shorts, skirt or trousers. Closed footwear is advised.
Meetings:
There is a volunteer meeting each Wednesday at 10:00 am. Attendance is required.
Costs:
$50 administration fee to be paid in cash at orientation. Two T-shirts will be supplied free of charge. If you require more than two, they can be paid for in cash at orientation US$5.00 each.
