Step 1: Informal Explanation
You may request an explanation from the marking lecturer of a mark or grade for an assessment task, consistent with your right to appropriate and useful feedback on your performance.
You should do so by emailing the marking lecturer within 3 business days from the notification of your mark.
If you are unsatisfied with the informal explanation provided by the marking lecturer, you may request a formal review of a mark or grade with Step 2 within 10 business days from the notification of your mark.
You must complete Step 1 before continuing to Step 2:
Step 2: Formal Request for Review of a Mark or Grade
Complete the form below ensuring that you satisfy the required criteria.
You may ONLY lodge a formal request for a review of a mark or grade on the grounds of the following:
• Failure to assess work in accordance with the assessment criteria specified in the relevant subject outline;
• Technical marking or mark collation error; or
• Bias on the part of the marker.
The formal request for review of a mark or grade must:
• Include the student’s name, student number and contact details
• The grounds for the request for review of a mark or grade
• The specific issues to be addressed
• Supporting evidence, including examples from the assessment
• The form of resolution sought
An application must clearly demonstrate that it meets the timeline and eligibility criteria as outlined in the policy.
All applications must be submitted with supporting documents.
Only complete applications will be assessed.
You will be advised of the decision in writing via email within 3 business days of the application date.
