Course/Subject Withdrawal & Leave of Absence Form

This form is to be used by all Ikon students wishing to take a leave of absence from study or withdraw from a course or unit of study.

This form should be read in conjunction with the following policies and procedures:

Glossary of terms:
• “Withdrawal” means the discontinuation of enrolment by a student in a subject or course
• “Leave of Absence (LoA)” means an approved period during which a student is not enrolled in any subject

It is important you know these facts before applying for a withdrawal, leave of absence or exit the course :

1. A student must complete this application form, gather supporting evidence and email to student experience team: experience@ikon.edu.au
2. A student should speak with a Student Experience Advisor to discuss academic and financial implications.
3. A student must ensure any outstanding payments have been finalised (if applicable).
4. A student should ensure any outstanding academic work has been submitted (if applicable).
5. Incomplete applications will be declined.
6. You will be advised of the decision in writing via email within two (2) business days of the application date.

Pre- Census Date:
• Student accessing FEE-HELP: provided that correct formal procedures have been followed prior to the census date for the unit(s) of study, the student will not incur a FEE-HELP debt for that unit of study.
• Fee paying student: within 28 days of receiving notification, the Ikon Institute of Australia will issue the student with either a refund for overpaid tuition fees, or a 30-day invoice for tuition fees still outstanding. Alternatively, unused tuition fees paid can be held in credit for a maximum of 14 months, in accordance with terms and conditions of enrolment. Deferred fees held in credit that are not used within 14 months will be forfeited.

Post - Census Date:
• Student accessing FEE-HELP: student will incur a FEE-HELP debt for tuition for the unit(s) of study and will be legally required to repay this debt. In cases of special circumstances* preventing completion of the unit(s) or study the student can apply in writing to the Ikon Institute of Australia within 12 months to have the debt re-credited.
• Fee paying student: no tuition fee refund is payable after the unit of study census date, and tuition fees remain due and payable by the student. However, in cases of special circumstances* preventing completion of the unit(s) of study the student can apply in writing to the Ikon Institute of Australia within 2 months of the census date to have the unused portion of fees refunded.

*Special circumstances are those that are beyond the student’s control.
