SEMC 2025 Annual Conference Travel Scholarships
SEMC is pleased to offer Scholarships to attend the 2025 Annual Meeting in Montgomery, Alabama. SEMC Scholarships are valued at $900: Early-Bird Annual Meeting registration ($400) plus a $500 travel stipend. 2025 scholarships include a one-year individual membership with the Southeastern Museums Conference.
For 2025, SEMC is pleased to offer scholarships in the following categories:
- Student
- General Museum Professional
- Seasoned Museum Professional (more than ten years in the field)
- Entry-Level Professional (less than five years in the field)
- Museum Volunteer
- African American Museum Professional
- Museum Professional from Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands (includes a $1,000 travel stipend)
- Small Museum Professional (institution annual operating budget under $500,000)
- President's Scholarship (covers registration only; applicant must live within 100 miles of Montgomery, AL)
Eligibility:
a) Applicant must not have received an SEMC scholarship in the past three years
b) Incomplete applications will not be considered. All parts of the application must be sent as a single submission online package.
Instructions:
a) Complete the online application form below
b) Complete the narrative questions below
c) Attach your resume
d) Attach one letter of support from your supervisor, museum director, OR similar museum stakeholder/supporter.
**(student submissions may have one letter of support from a professor, academic advisor, or someone else who can speak to your interest in attending SEMC).
Criteria:
The Scholarship Committee considers the following factors:
a) Financial need (not necessarily institutional)
b) Evidence that the annual meeting program answers the needs and concerns of the applicant
c) History of involvement in museums or professional organizations
d) Dedication to the museum profession in the Southeast
e) Professional references
f) Distance from the conference location
Deadline and Notification:
Applications must be submitted online by 11:59PM CST Friday, June 30, 2025.
Members of the Scholarship Committee will review applications, and all applicants will receive email notifications by July 31, 2025.
