Placement assignments are made prior to the first day of volunteering. Changes in assignments must be coordinated through Volunteer Services by the manager or the specialist.
Arrive on time. If for any reason you will be late, contact your placement department.
If you are ill or unable to volunteer for any reason, contact your placement department.
Two weeks of vacation time are approved and are considered excused absences.
If a holiday falls on your regularly scheduled day and you plan to observe it, contact your placement department at least 24 hours before your scheduled shift.
Failure to communicate any absence in advance of an assigned shift will be noted in the volunteer’s personnel file. After three “no shows” the volunteer will be grounds for dismissal.
If a volunteer has three or more absences within three rolling months, he/she will be counseled regarding attendance by the Site Supervisor or Volunteer Services. Excessive absences are grounds for dismissal.
Junior volunteers are not permitted to leave the hospital campus during their scheduled shifts without written parental and can result in immediate suspension and/or dismissal from the program.
Junior volunteers are expected to be in their work areas or completing an errand or task for the assigned department while volunteering. It is imperative that staff members can always locate junior volunteers.
Junior volunteers are required to sign-in prior to each shift. Failure to sign in is grounds for dismissal. Falsification of time records is grounds for dismissal.
