    ************************** APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS ***************************

    1. Applicants must reside in or attend a high school within District 1.
    2. Applicants must follow @commissionergilbertsoffice on Instagram, like the Spring Break Expedition: Civil Right Tour Post, and tag three people under the post.
    3. Applicants must submit a typed response to essay prompt: “What impact would the Civil Rights Expedition have on you?”
    4. Applicants must submit a scanned copy of of their most recent report card.
    5. Application must be complete and signed by the applicant and a parent/guardian.


    *Applications will be considered on an individual basis; submission of an application does not guarantee selection/participation.

    *Any submissions without the proper supporting documents or that do not meet the required criteria will not be considered.

    Applicants will be selected and notified via email by January 31, 2025. Please be sure to monitor your email, as those selected will have 24 hours to accept the offer.

    In 300 words or less (150 words minimum), tell us how you believe the struggles and achievements of the Civil Rights Movement continue to shape the challenges and opportunities we face as a nation? Additionally, explain what you hope to learn or experience during this trip and how it will deepen your understanding of this important chapter in history.
