By posting their work in the open access repository, authors have agreed to share their work publicly and allow others to access it freely. However, while you do not always need permission to use the material (if your usage falls under Fair Use copyright (17 U.S. Code § 107)), it is important to credit the original author when using or citing any part of their work.
