Institute for Training and Development is administering its Environmental Sustainability Professional Fellowship Program with Mexico, Peru and Uruguay in the Spring and Fall of 2016. The Professional Fellows Program is sponsored by the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs and brings emerging leaders from around the world to the United States with all fees covered for intensive fellowships designed to broaden their professional expertise.
- ITD’s program will bring with all expenses covered a total of 10 young Uruguayan environmental professionals to Massachusetts, in Spring and Fall 2016, and send 5 American counterparts to Uruguay. Selected participants will be a combination of NGO leaders, government officials, community leaders, educators and environmental experts. The program will focus on multi-stakeholder approaches to environmental sustainability.
- Selected participants will receive theoretical and practical training related to U.S. environmental stakeholders, including the completion of three week fellowships on the field with public and private host organizations throughout Western Massachusetts. By working within organizations and alongside their U.S. counterparts, the visiting environmental fellows will gain an in-depth look at the different stakeholders and how they relate to each other.
- Selected participants will prepare action plans for implementation in their own countries. As part of the exchange, the U.S. counterparts from the host organizations will then travel to Uruguay in February 2017.
- Selected participants will become part of the Uruguayan alumni to have participated in exchanges with the United States Institute, such as the SUSI student leader program.
