BLOOD WORK
It is not necessary for CLIENT to provide a copy of blood work. Same protocol is used on all placentas. We ask that the CLIENT uses common courtesy and advises SPECIALIST of any STD/STIs so SPECIALIST can prepare CLIENT’S placenta with disposable equipment as an extra precautionary step. It is safe to consume your own placenta if you are positive for an STD. It is not recommended to share your placenta products with anyone else when positive for an STD. SPECIALIST abides by all HIPPA privacy laws and does not share your personal information.
PLACENTA HANDLING POST-BIRTH
CLIENT agrees to contact SPECIALIST via phone call as soon as labor begins and then again after the baby is born. CLIENT agrees to keep placenta in their sight at all times to ensure it does not go to the lab where it will be contaminated by chemicals or other harmful substances rendering it unsafe for consumption. If the hospital must test the placenta, a small piece can be taken off the maternal side and sent to the lab, while the intact placenta is stored properly. Client agrees to then have the packaged placenta placed in a refrigerator (home birth) or cooler with ice (hospital or birth center). CLIENT is responsible for providing cooler. CLIENT understands that the same post-birth care instructions apply to C-sections. Placentas are good at room temperature (70°F) up to 4 hours.
CLIENT agrees to follow instructions listed under "Placenta Handling and Transportation" page provided in the Information Packet. This information is for those not purchasing 24/7 placenta Pick-up Service. (Please refer to packages to see if yours includes this service or not.) CLIENT understands that it is imperative that these instructions are followed exactly. If not followed, the placenta cannot be processed. No refunds are given if CLIENT fails to properly handle/store/transport placenta.
Transport kits are available for purchase when available/in stock. Please contact us for more details.
FLORIDA LEGALITIES
There are NO State mandated regulations barring placental release or consumption. The place of birth may have policies and may require a release form. A general release is available through The Placenta Hacienda if needed. CLIENT is responsible for determining the policy of their birth place during pregnancy and informing the caregiver that CLIENT plans to consume placenta.
RISKS OF PLACENTA CONSUMPTION
CLIENT understands the risks of placenta consumption are the same as dining out in a restaurant where food is prepared for you.
Other risks may include: placenta being switched with another placenta that is not the CLIENT’s at the hospital; placenta contamination with chemicals at hospital pathology laboratory; and contamination during transport (either by hospital or failing to store properly).
BENEFITS OF PLACENTA CONSUMPTION
CLIENT acknowledges the following benefits of placentophagia:
Preventing and lessening the risk of postpartum “Baby Blues”
Replenishing iron from blood loss during birth and prevention of post-birth anemia in the mother
Lending a consistent flow of oxytocin (the love hormone) long after the birth euphoria ends
Provides HPL hormone to help establish early and healthy milk supply for breastfeeding
Stabilizes constantly fluctuating hormones post birth
Replenishes B vitamins and energy that were used during labor and birth process
Protection from infection and bleeding due to retained placenta tissues or membranes
Offers natural pain relief from labor and birth process via the hormone POEF (placenta opioid enhancing factor)
